Pittwater Friends is delighted to have been able to form partnerships with a number of different organisations to make a difference in so many diverse ways in Soibada.
Pittwater Council is the official partner of the Local Government in Soibada. In 2010 the General Manager of Pittwater Council traveled to Soibada to sign the official Friendship Agreement between the two governments. They continue to provide support to the Pittwater Friends of Soibada in many of their undertakings.
Upper Northern Beaches Rotary Club
Soibada has become one of the international projects of our local Rotary Club. They are a key partner in the building of the Soibada Training Centre and Guest House. They have donated the funds that enabled the people of Soibada to complete the first stages of this important building.
Brookvale Rotary Club
Brookvale Rotary have been working with Pittwater Friends of Soibada to develop a sanitisation program in the village. They have sent representatives to Soibada to carry out a needs assessment and work is continuing to develop this much needed program.
Pittwater Catholic Parish
The link between Pittwater Catholic Parish and the Parish of Soibada began at Maria Regina catholic Primary School in 2008. In September 2009 Father George, Kathy Gee (Maria Regina Principal) and Tamara Sloper Harding visited Timor Leste to formalise the Parish Partnership agreement with Soibada.
Hiam Health is a NGO operating in Timor Leste with the goal of reducing the unacceptably high rate of malnutrition in the country through education. To date Pittwater Friends of Soibada (PFOS) have sponsored 16 women from the village to travel to Dili to attend courses in Nutrition and Home Gardening. On completion of the Training Centre building PFOS will sponsor trainers to come to Soibada and extend the education facilities and continue this vital program.
Dress a Girl around the World (Australia)
Dress a Girl Around the World Australia are an online Crafting community who make clothes for children in underprivileged countries around the world. They work on the basis that 'Every little girl in the world should own a beautiful dress' (boys are catered for too!) Dress a Girl Around The World are currently making children's clothes for us to take to Soibada. People can support Dress a Girl Around the World (Australia) either by making clothes or by sponsoring the team to sew a dress. For each dress made through the sponsorship program the organisation will also donate $10 (proceeds from sponsorship) toward the building of the Soibada Training Centre and Guest House.

Women have power when working together
FKSH is an organization created by enterprising women in Timor Leste. They provide training to Timorese women in small business management. Pittwater Friends of Soibada has funded 5 women from Soibada to undertake this training in Dili with the view to establishing a craft cooperative in Soibada that will provide income for local families. The project is ongoing and will be one of the focuses of the upcoming visit to Timor Leste in October.
ABUT - Books for Timor
ABUT is a Dili based organisation that provide children's books in Tetun and Portuguese. Pittwater Friends of Soibada has developed a literacy program with the aim of putting books in all the schools in Soibada. All funds raised for this worthwhile project are used to resource books through ABUT.
When living in poverty means not having sanitary supplies, it means DAYS without school, DAYS without income, DAYS without leaving the house. Days for Girls help girls gain access to quality sustainable feminine hygiene and awareness, by direct distribution of sustainable feminine hygiene kits. Pittwater Friends of Soibada have partnered with Days for Girls and through our nursing volunteers we delivered hygiene kits and health and hygiene education to young women in Soibada.
Enactus is an international non-profit organization that brings together student, academic and business leaders who are committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to improve the quality of life and standard of living for people in need. Youth for Soibada, the youth group of Pittwater Friends of Soibada, are a group of students who have been working with Enactus to conduct projects in Soibada.
